Monkiri kata" is a paper-cutting game popular in the Edo period.
All you have to do is fold a piece of origami, place a paper pattern on the folded origami, and cut it out according to the lines. When you are done cutting, remove the paper pattern and gently open the folded paper to see a beautiful family crest. Enjoyable by both children and adults, "monkiri kata" is a paper-cutting game developed by the people of Edo (present-day Tokyo) that requires little work and can produce complex and beautiful shapes.
There are a total of 20 types of paper stencils featuring the crests of warriors of the Warring States period. The set includes 20 sheets of Japanese paper and instructions (with English translation).
The stencils are made from scratch by Seiryu Hatori, a crest-joishi. Why don't you experience the chic play of the Edo period?
*This book contains a little bit complicated katagami of family crests, so you need to use a cutter for some katagami. If you want to play with just scissors, there is also Monkiri Kata Kit [Blue] - Scissors version .
