This table is made exclusively of Akita cedar, a purely domestic, high-grade wood, and is made using the "denti-zaiku" technique used for high-grade fittings such as shoin (drawing rooms).
The hemp leaf pattern is said to have been established in the Heian period (794-1185) and has been widely used on kimonos as a representative Japanese pattern. The hemp, which serves as a motif, grows large without much effort, and the triangular pattern was meant to ward off evil spirits.
The entire surface is coated with waterproof silicone to prevent stains from alcohol and seasonings, and neoprene rubber is applied to the underside of the legs to provide excellent heat and oil resistance.
